Guangzhou has forged a friendly city relationship with Panama City, Panama on Nov 11, being the first of its kind forged between cities in China and Panama.

The total number of Guangzhou's international friendship cities has increased to 87.

Panama and Guangzhou have enjoyed a longstanding history of mutual communication as around 200,000 people in Panama originally came from Guangzhou's Huadu district. In addition, Guangzhou donated medical supplies to Panama City during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
