Guangzhou's Tianhe district will carry out pilot construction for building international communities, officials announced during a press conference held on Oct 28.
Guangyue community and Huijing community in the district have been chosen to build international community service centers, which will each include a service station for overseas people, a cultural exchange station for Chinese and overseas residents, a foreign-related volunteer service station, as well as a service station for overseas talents.
The construction plan of these two centers have invited experts and foreign residents to participate in their design, while the construction of these two international community service centers is scheduled to be finished by the end of this year.
Li Huayi, deputy director of the Liede sub-district office, said that the service center of Guangyue community will have a small kitchen in both Chinese and western styles according to the suggestions from foreign residents so that they can learn how to make Chinese dishes in the kitchen.
Zhu Yubiao, deputy director of the civil affairs bureau of Tianhe district, said that the international community will explore integration in areas like culture.
Activities enabling foreign residents to learn more about traditional Chinese culture, such as the studies of Chinese ancient civilization and traditional Chinese instruments, will be available in the international community to establish a platform for cultural communication.
