The executive board meeting of the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) was held online from Aug 24 to 25, attracting around 150 representatives from member cities of UCLG ASPAC.
The meeting was jointly held by UCLG ASPAC, Local Government New Zealand, and the Wellington City Council.
Chen Yini, co-president of UCLG ASPAC and chair of the Asia Pacific Standing Committee of Women in Local Governments, delivered a work report during the meeting on behalf of the Asia Pacific Standing Committee of Women in Local Governments.
Representatives from the Guangzhou People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries spoke at a special session of the event where cities discussed their experience of reviving regional economic development on behalf of Guangzhou.
A forum on the role of local governments in building sustainable communities in the post-pandemic era was also held during the event.
