A video conference covering excellent international urban innovation cases in 2020 was held on July 9, gathering more than 80 representatives from 27 cities in China.
The conference was held under the guidance of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the foreign affairs office of the Guangzhou municipal government.
Nicholas You, adviser of the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (Guangzhou Award) and former director of the World Urban Campaign coordinated by UN-Habitat, introduced the adjustments and issues for the fifth Guangzhou Award caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Representatives from Yunnan province's Kunming, Ningbo's Jiangbei district in Zhejiang province, and Nanjing in Jiangsu province introduced their cases respectively during the conference.
It is expected that the conference will encourage and promote urban innovation around the world, as well as offer more Chinese solutions for global sustainable development.
