Guangzhou recorded a new novel coronavirus (COVID-19) case of a 17-year-old male who flew from the United Kingdom on his way back home to Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning province.

He took flight CZ304 in Britain and landed at Baiyun International Airport on April 17. After having his throat swab collected, he was transferred to a designated hotel for quarantine. The result came back positive on the next day and he was transferred to Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital. After further verification, he was confirmed with the virus. Since then, a total of 19 close contacts have been put under medical observation.

Of the 18 asymptomatic cases in Guangdong province, 15 were found in Guangzhou, two in Shenzhen, and one in Foshan, which was related to a previous imported COVID-19 case.

Among the 15 asymptomatic cases in Guangzhou, two were found at checkpoints, seven found among close contacts of previous confirmed cases, and six among possible contacts and visitors to at-risk venues.
