The first temporary postal route connecting Macao and overseas areas via Guangzhou has been put into operation, Guangzhou Customs announced on April 12, which is the first of its kind in China.
The operation of the route has helped to deal with the difficulties of transporting Macao postal deliveries to overseas areas caused by the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19).
Currently, the route has undertaken the transport of Macao postal deliveries to nine destinations, namely Japan, South Korea, the United States, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, handling about 400 kilograms of postal deliveries per day.
Guangzhou Customs has made full use of its intelligent supervision system featuring both augmented reality and artificial intelligence to realize fast clearance for Macao postal deliveries.
