The Surgical Operation Demonstration Center in China of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (BAAPS) of the Royal College of Surgeons officially signed an agreement to settle down in Guangzhou International Medicine Port (GIMP) on Dec 27.

Located in Guangzhou's Liwan district, GIMP covers a total area of 73 hectares and was funded with a total investment of more than 20 billion yuan ($2.86 billion). The first phase of GIMP finished the construction of its main structure on May 1 and has started to attract investments from all over the world.

Currently, a number of international prestigious brands have settled down in the area, including Luye Medical Group from Singapore and Diaverum from Switzerland.

Jiang Yuzhen, executive director of the BAAPS China Representative Office, said that there is at least six times more room for growth in China's aesthetic plastic surgery market and that China will become a key development area for medical travel in the future.

Jiang noted that the cooperation of GIMP and BAAPS will help to attract business resources from the global anti-aging industry and the medical beauty industry to cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, turning GIMP into a large-scale medical innovation center in the Greater Bay Area.

The International Academic Communication Center of the Chinese Medical Education Association (CMEA) was also unveiled, as well as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Dermatologist Alliance Liaison Office.

Huang Zhengming, chairman of CMEA, expressed his hope that GIMP will focus on clustering high-caliber talents in the area to promote the development of China's medical education.
