Guangzhou residents will be able to experience the charm of sailing on the sea during the upcoming third Guangzhou Nansha International Sailing Regatta, which will be held from Dec 12 to 15 at Race Village Nansha Marina.
Hosted by the Guangzhou municipal people's government, the regatta will organize a series of activities, including a virtual reality (VR) experience hall, exhibitions, and a traditional handicraft experience area. The host site of the event will open to the public for free from 10 am to 5:30 pm every day.
This year's event has invited about 100 professional athletes from 13 countries and regions alongside the Maritime Silk Road, including Oman, Hong Kong, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, and Thailand.
Limited places will also be opened for the public for a combination competition for both professionals and amateurs that will be held every day, allowing more sailing enthusiasts to experience the fun of competition.
The regatta, being the largest and richest comprehensive water sports event integrating competition, tourism, and culture in Guangzhou, has become one of the four biggest sports events in the city, along with the Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament, the Guangzhou Marathon, and the Conghua Racecourse Exhibition Raceday.
