A press conference was held in Guangzhou Dec 2 to announce that the 2019 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival will be held from Dec 9 to 12.

The festival is co-organized by the National Radio and Television Administration and Guangdong Provincial People's Government. It is expected to gather industrial giants from home and abroad.

Eight overseas delegations from countries including Italy, Finland, South Korea, France and the United Kingdom will participate in various sections spanning documentary exhibitions, program pre-sales and film transactions.

More than 70 international forums will be held during the festival, inviting experts from all over the world to share views on the latest industry trends.

A total 3,441 works from 130 countries and regions have joined the competition for this year's Golden Kapok Screening, and more than 80 percent of them are from overseas. Forty-six have been selected to compete in the finals.

This year's event also marks the first time that the number of European works surpasses the number from Asia, making the festival one of the most influential in the world.

The Golden Kapok Screening will hit the screens in several cinemas in Guangzhou from Dec 7 to 15.

The organizing committee noted that all these cinemas are alongside metro lines and film screenings are arranged for non-working times. Ticket prices ranges from 20 to 80 yuan ($2.80 to $11.30), while free tickets for some films are also available.
