The third Global Intelligent Industry Conference and Exposition 2019, along with the Global Innovative Technology Exchange Conference, opened in Guangzhou on Nov 23, lasting for three days.

This year's event, themed on the smart tech industry, has set up 14 venues, covering a total area of 10,000 square meters. Forums and industrial matchmaking activities in various areas, such as artificial intelligence (AI), smart perception, smart hardware, and smart detection, have also been held.

The forum on the innovation development of the smart tech industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which was held on Nov 24, was a highlight of this year's event.

It is expected that the event can deepen global communication and cooperation in the smart tech industry, boost the high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry, as well as contribute to the efforts of turning the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into a global technological innovation center.

Steven Chen, academician of the American Academy of Engineering, delivered a speech on the development of smart medicine and education led by AI and supercomputing science.

Wang Huaming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, gave an introduction on 3D printing technology.

"From my perspective, the most important thing for 3D printing is materials instead of manufacturing. The new technology will change the materials of major equipment along with the manufacturing model," said Wang.

A variety of the latest technologies and products, such as patrol robots, multi-function unmanned aerial vehicles, and new material printing technology, have been displayed at the exposition.

The event will permanently settle in Guangzhou's Haizhu district, according to the local district government.
