Delegations of Fukuoka, Noboribetsu, and Oita, three Guangzhou sister cities in Japan, visited Guangzhou between Oct 30 and Nov 2 during the commemorative meeting of 40 years of international sister cities in Guangzhou.

Fukuoka of Japan paired with Guangzhou in May 1979 as Guangzhou's first international sister city. 

Takashima Soichiro, mayor of Fukuoka, signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthening sister city relations with Guangzhou at the opening ceremony of the commemorative meeting. 

The three delegations also visited several landmarks in Guangzhou, including Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, Guangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Center, and the Pearl River.
