Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd (GAC) signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Toyota Motor Corporation on Sept 26 to deepen cooperation in electric vehicles and intelligent network fields.

The two automobile giants are expected to support the research, development, and promotion of electric vehicles. They will also share resources and talent. 

Electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will be launched alongside hybrid vehicles (HV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) in an attempt to satisfy the various needs of Chinese customers and help improve China’s environment.

In recent years, GAC has been working to integrate joint venture cooperation with independent innovation and development. It is eyeing emerging areas such as electric vehicles, intelligent networks, and online travel platforms. GAC's first electric vehicle, Aion S, launched in 2019, has been well-received at the market.
