A special session was held in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province on Sept 18 to deepen cooperation between Guangzhou and Macao SAR. Leong Vai Tac, secretary of economy and finance of the Macao SAR, led a delegation for the event.

Presided jointly by Chen Zhiying, vice mayor of Guangzhou, and Leong, the session included talks between the two sides in regards to Guangzhou-Macao cooperation in production, education, and research areas, as well as the "vegetable basket" project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. 

Both sides stated that the major opportunities for the construction of the Greater Bay Area should be seized, and that efforts should be made to increase cooperation between the two places to a new stage on the basis of their good cooperation in the past.

After the session, three agreements were inked concerning the strategic cooperation between technological industries in the two places, the statistics bureaus in Guangzhou and Macao, as well as the establishment of a marketing and sales center for goods of Portuguese-speaking countries and regions.
