Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Leung Chun-ying visited Guangzhou city to see the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area and seek further ties with the megacity, Guangzhou Daily reported on April 19. 

Leung appreciated Guangzhou's great economic achievements, and confirmed that Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area, both important national strategic outlines, brought opportunities for consolidation of cooperation and bilateral development between Hong Kong and Guangdong. 

He revealed his willingness to strengthen ties with Guangzhou by exploiting Hong Kong's highly international and marketable strengths.

Guangzhou Municipal Party Secretary Ren Xuefeng outlined the city's current economic situation and shared insights on further exchanges in a range of areas, including scientific innovation, industrial transformation and upgrading, and city planning, so that both regions can achieve win-win results.
